Harold, Chair and Pepeha

Harold
Last week we visited Harold in his classroom. We watched a video about a boy called Billy who started at a new school and he was feeling frightened. We discussed ways to help others to feel safe and included. Being kind and caring to everyone around us was the key to a happy life. Getting helps from the Mind Master was much healthier than having Head Hassler. We also learnt about different body parts and their functions.

Room 16 Chair
We have been working on a mosaic chair for our School Art Auction Fundraising. The chair is colourful and has our school logo on it to represent our school heritage. We had red on the chair back to show our land (volcanoes) and our Maori culture. The blue and white colours on the legs represent our moana. This chair was created to celebrate our school’s 140s as well. We hope this chair could be sold for over $150!

Pepeha
This morning we learnt how to introduce ourselves in Maori called pepeha. We had to refer ourselves to the mountain, ocean, river and Marae we identify ourselves with. It was exciting to find out how to introduce ourselves in Maori.
